Saw a few people saying they’re cancelling their trips to America so thought I would share some alternatives ☺️

Side note: this is just a bit of fun as I love finding doppelgänger destinations around the world. But also trying to create a shred of light in a dark situation. I’m really feeling for the women and minority groups in the US right now. Sending love to you all 🫶🏼

🏝️ instead of Hawaii
🏝️ try Madeira
- similar cliffs, mountains, coastal areas and beaches.

☀️ instead of California
☀️ try Portugal or Australia
- nice weather, beaches, surfing is big in them all, great rocky coastal areas that are good for road trips, artsy cities, wineries etc.

🎲 instead of Las Vegas
🎲 try Macau
- gambling and copy cat hotels. looks the same but very different vibes. Not as much pool parties and drinking.

🏜️ instead of Utah
🏜️ try Northern Spain
- dry desert landscapes with rocky formations.

🧂 instead of Bonneville Salt Flats
🧂 try Uyuni Salt Flats, Bolivia
- both salt flats, Uyuni is the biggest in the world and acts as a giant mirror in wet season!

🌃 instead of New York City
🌃 try Tokyo
- lively, concrete jungles with lots of lights and very fun & tech forward (Tokyo even more so).

🛕 instead of New Mexico
🛕 try Cappadocia, Turkey
- one particular area of New Mexico is even better in Turkey because they’re famous for the hot air balloons flying over the unique (or two of a kind I guess) landscape.

🧗🏼‍♀️ instead of Arizona
🧗🏼‍♀️ try Oman & Jordan
- Oman have Wadis similar to Arizonas Oasis’ and Jordan has similar slot canyons. Plus they have Petra, so that’s a win!

These are my absolute favourite beaches in Bali and why:

1. Padang-Padang Beach

Crystal blue water, cliffs and caves with bats inside! You can surf here and enjoy the most delicious grilled corn. 🌽 Just make sure the monkeys aren’t close by or they will fight you for it 😂 really reminds me of Thai beaches.

TIP: it’s much more beautiful if you come at high tide

2. Ausin Beach

A little hidden gem with a restaurant/cafe right on the rocks overlooking the sea. The only beach in this list that doesn’t have a cover charge (the others are small) but it’s generally very quiet here. It’s also better at high tide as it’s very rocky and shallow so at low tide there isn’t anywhere to swim.

TIP: put Dreamsea Surf Camp in Google Maps to find it. Sometimes Ausin Beach won’t be an option in maps.

3. Dreamland Beach

Incredibly blue water with great surfing and a great place to watch the sunset! There are a lot of sun loungers or space for your own towels.

TIP: visit Klapa New Kuta Beach Club which is a day club that overlooks this beach if you’re feeling something a bit more fancy.

The most dreamy stay @ecobamboobali 🌿🛖

Bali bucketlist stay ✨

Staying in one of these magical bamboo villas is a perfect way to spend a few days in the Balinese jungle.

It’s located in Sidemen; a small town in the mountains just east of Ubud. Surrounded by rainforest, waterfalls and rice terraces, this is the perfect place to enjoy some peace and quiet.

Sidemen is what I always pictured Ubud was going to be before visiting, yet I was shocked to realise it’s a really busy city 😂 So if you’re looking for that quiet, local small town Bali feel, I highly recommend going that bit further to Sidemen and staying in these beautiful bamboo huts.

We slept amongst nature listening to the sound of the jungle and the river that ran right along our villa.

It was pure bliss. Just don’t forget that it actually gets a bit cooler in the mountains, and wetter! Pack accordingly 😂

Most of the above are cafes that allow you to work in their space as long as you make a purchase. You gotta eat anyway, so these spaces have great working conditions and amenities like strong Wi-Fi, lots of plug sockets, cosy seating etc.
