Shanghai is a chaotic cosmopolitan gem with an east-meets-west look and old-meets-new vibe. So much to see and do…
When visiting Beijing on a budget, there are a number of ways to get to the Great Wall of China, some more popular than the other. Here I share the three main options I found and which worked for me.
China is weird and wonderful and all kinds of crazy. Full of unique experiences, people and customs – some hard to get used to – that has become a life changing adventure.
‘Regret’ is not usually a word I would place alongside ‘travel’. In my deep personal thoughts, however, I’ve come to believe that the more I see of the world, the more I seem to miss.
When you think of Italian food, you probably think of pizza and pasta. When you think of traveling to Mexico, you can imagine eating tacos, burritos and enchiladas. When you think of Thailand, you imagine delicious pad thai and green curries, but a lot of people wouldn’t know what food to expect in Australia.
One thing that bugs me about peoples perception of Australia is that they think Australia is a ‘new country’ with no culture. People think that just because we don’t have man-made buildings like the Colosseum that date back thousands of years, that means we don’t have a rich and authentic history. White Australians may not, but the Indigenous Australians (Aboriginals) have the longest story of survival in the world.
Traveling is something we all love, obviously if your reading this, and the beauty of adventure for some is finding new and exciting places to visit. Well these next few destinations are growing with popularity more and more every year and you best visit before they’re over run with tourists and that little bit less exciting. Croatia Ok so Croatia is pretty popular already, with places like Dubrovnik and Split some of the most visited places in Europe. I had to add it to the list however, because Croatia is currently using their own currency (Croatian Kuna) meaning it is still relatively cheap compared to other European countries. But it won’t be for long. Croatia joined the European Union in mid-2013 and is set to change their currency to the Euro by no later than 2019 (but they can apply from 2016). So get there quick! Morocco Morocco is growing in popularity year after year, but most seem to just visit the cultural hub of Marrakech and that is all but beyond that beautiful city is …
Madrid often gets overlooked by travelers who choose to head to the beach side city of Barcelona instead. Before traveling to Madrid I had heard mixed reviews, but this was quickly shut down by my absolute love of the city when I arrived. With an insane party scene and probably even more beautiful architecture than Barcelona itself, it’s hard to decide what to fit into 10 hours of exploring, but I tried my best.
Sarajevo is bursting with history and beauty. It is said that the wars of the 90’s both began and ended here as Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated in the city, instigating World War I and the Bosnian War ended here in 1995. Bosnia & Herzegovina is one of the most underrated countries in all of Europe. The capital Sarajevo has much to offer tourists.
Fun fact: Istanbul is the only city in the world that straddles two continents; Europe and Asia. And with ancient history to rival the likes of Rome, world-class attractions and an ambient atmosphere, it’s hardly a surprise that it’s fast becoming one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe.
